Leadership 20XX

What is the Leadership 20XX Program?

Leadership 20XX is an 18-month talent initiative program aligning mid-level leadership development with future organizational strategy and direction. Its overarching goal is to strengthen the talent pipeline by growing critical leadership skills and capabilities within UCLA Administration. The curriculum concentrates on core skills in the following focus areas:

  • Self-awareness
  • Business insight
  • People orientation
  • Business results

Program Objectives

  • Develop a larger pool of qualified talent for future leadership positions.
  • Provide a comprehensive action learning program to strengthen business acumen and execution skills for effective leadership performance.
  • Align learning with identified competencies and behaviors to address future organizational direction and needs.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and applied projects to implement new opportunities and/or address current organizational challenges.
  • Promote internal talent visibility and exposure to UCLA Administration senior leadership.
  • Enhance the understanding of and connection to the different operations within UCLA Administration.
     

Who is Eligible?

Individuals interested in applying for the Leadership 20XX program must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a full-time career employee under CareerTracks Individual Contributor P4 and P5 and Supervisors and Managers S2-M1
  • Have demonstrated ability to:
    • Lead teams and/or projects
    • Build relationships
    • Learn and apply new concepts quickly
  • Must receive approval to participate from direct manager.
  • Meet or exceed performance expectations in current function.
  • Submit a recommendation/reference from a direct manager, peer/colleague, and direct report (if applicable).
     

Application Process and Deadline

Applications for the Leadership 2036 program are now open. Please review the eligibility criteria described in the “Who is Eligible?” section above. This 18-month program is set to begin in January 2026. If you are interested in applying, please make sure that you complete the Leadership 2036 Application and share the Recommendation Form with your selected references.
