Captain/Assistant Fire Marshal Jamie Ellazar is a seasoned professional with 15 years of experience in emergency response, fire inspections, public education, and data analytics. Jamie’s role oversees the development and implementation of the Title 19 Program, Public Education initiatives, Fire Investigation activities, and provide essential support to the Fire Marshal within the guidelines of the MOU with the State Fire Marshal's Office. In addition to these responsibilities, Jamie is involved in the Operations division, serving as a CA State Certified Fire Investigator and Hazardous Materials Specialist. During the last 7 years with UCLA, Jamie has created and completed projects such as the online fire extinguisher training program that offered 24/7 accessibility to staff, faculty, and students, meeting mandatory training requisites for chem/biochem courses even before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, one of Jamie’s most proud achievements is the successful transition of the Title 19 inspection program into a digital platform, resulting in significant environmental benefits such as eliminating 100% paper waste and reducing report-writing time by 40%, and a more efficient way to gather and analyze data.
